The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party says it has filed 10 petitions at the election petitions tribunal to challenge the victories of the All Progressives Congress’ candidates in the National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections held in the state.
The Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of the PDP Campaign Council, Mr Yiljap Abraham, disclosed this in a statement in Jos, the state capital, on Tuesday.
Abraham said, “The PDP legal team has filed 10 petitions before the tribunal handling National Assembly and the state House of Assembly elections cases.
“They include two petitions for senatorial election, three petitions for the House of Representatives and five petitions for the state House of Assembly.
“These petitions were all filed within the time specified and have been duly acknowledged.”
It was gathered that among the 10 petitions filed by the PDP were those challenging the victory of the APC in Plateau South and Plateau Central Senatorial Districts, while the three affected House of Representatives Seats were those of Bassa/Jos North, Pankshin/Kanam/Kanke and Quanpan/Mikang/Shendam federal constituencies.
In the case of the state House of Assembly seats, it was further gathered that the PDP filed two petitions against the APC in Jos North-North and one petition each for Quanpan North, Mikang and Quanpan South state constituencies respectively.
