Nine Nigerians, two Zimbabweans, one Ghanaian arrested for murder of Nigerian Student in Northern Cyprus

More details emerged on the murder of Walshak Augustine Ngok, 25, a Nigerian student who was murdered during the weekend and dumped at a forest area near Tashkent village in Haspolat, Northern Cyprus.


Ngok was reportedly killed by his roommate on April 19 for allege stolen money.

Three people out of the 12 people arrested for the murder confessed to the crime in court on Monday.

Earlier on Sunday, Northern Cyprus police carried out an operation in Gonyeli in which nine people, all foreigners were arrested and detained for investigation.

Another three suspect were detained in another home operation. Among those arrested are 9 Nigerians, 2 Zimbabweans and 1 Ghanaian

Items recovered in the operations include laptop, phones which were confiscated.

According to one of the suspect who confessed to the police said the murder took place in the living room of an apartment located in the Lavinyum Site in Dikmen.

An autopsy carried out on the student revealed that he died from head trauma as a result of severe beating, the student suffered from blunt head trauma, cerebral hemorrhage and loss of breath as a result of being choked.

Ngok was reportedly to have fought with his friend in front of an apartment building on Lavinyum Sitesi on the day of the incident.
