Identity of Nigerian student Murdered in Northern Cyprus revealed, nine arrested

The identity of an African student who was murdered at a forest area near Tashkent village in Haspolat, Northern Cyprus, has been revealed by the police on Sunday evening.


The deceased was found to be known with the name Walshak Augustine Ngok.

A check on his Facebook wall showed that he is from Jos, Nigeria and Studied Marine engineering at the Near East University.

Earlier on Sunday, Northern Cyprus police carried out an operation in Gonyeli in which nine people, all foreigners were arrested and detained for investigation, it was gathered that 3 people had a direct connection to the murder.

A rental vehicle was recovered from the arrested suspects garden and confiscated.

According to an unconfirmed information claimed that the student may have been murdered over money settlement issue.

Investigation by police is still ongoing to uncover the reasons for Wallies’s murder.
