The Oyo State Governor-Elect, Eng.Makinde Oluseyi Abiodun, his Deputy, Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan and 32 House of Assembly members-Elect have received their Certificates of Return from the Commission.
The event which took place today 27th March at Premier Hotel,in the capital city of Ibadan witnessed a large turnout of all Stakeholders in the electioneering process.
The National Commissioner, in charge of the Oyo,,Osun &Ekiti States,Prince Soyebi in his address, commended the State for indeed setting “the pace”in the electoral process as Oyo State has been adjudged one of the most peaceful States in the just concluded general elections in the Country.
He urged the electorate to maintain the status quo and participate actively in exercising their franchise in the coming 2023 general elections just as preparation towards the same has commenced according by the Commission.
The Hon. Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC) in the State, Barr. Mutiu Agboke in his welcome address admonished the elected officials not to down play the dreams,feelings, expectations of their constituencies & the electorate in general.
The Hon.REC noted further that”The Commission in collaboration with all the strategic Stakeholders will continue to improve on the electoral process in order to further consolidate our democracy “.
He also assured that “No stone shall be left unturned in the journey to being the flagship among the Electoral Management Bodies in Africa”.
He concluded by wishing the elected officials a successful, positive and impactful tenure as they took over the mantle of leadership in Oyo State.
