The Nasarawa State Police Command has deployed about 4,452 of its personnel to provide security during the forthcoming general elections in the state.
The state Police Commissioner, Mr Bola Longe, said this at a press briefing in Lafia, the state capital, on Tuesday.
He explained that the police personnel would be complemented by operatives of sister security agencies such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Prisons Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency and the Nigeria Customs Service.
Longe said, “We are ready to provide the much needed security for the conduct of the 2019 general elections.
“We have the will, the training, the capacity, the temperament, professionalism and the law behind us to check and decisively deal with any person or group of persons that may want to cause security breaches before, during and after the elections in the state.”
The CP, who recently assumed duty, said the command under his leadership had put in place all necessary measures to ensure peaceful conduct of the polls as well as ensure that the residents of the state sleep with both eyes closed.
