The Monkees’ Michael Nesmith was rushed to hospital

Musician Michael Nesmith was rushed to hospital on Thursday (21.06.18).

The 75-year-old musician was taken to a medical facility after suffering from a “minor health issue”, and as a result the ‘I’m A Believer’ hitmakers have been forced to postpone the remaining four dates of their ‘The Monkees Present: The Mike & Micky Show Tour’ while he rests.

A post on the band’s Facebook page read: “Michael Nesmith had a minor health issue today in advance of his tour date in Philadelphia tonight. He visited a local medical facility and, although the issue was not serious, was advised to rest for the next week, so unfortunately the remaining four dates on The Monkees Present: The Mike & Micky Show tour have been postponed until a later date. Michael is said to be in “good spirits” despite the issue, and is “looking forward” to returning to the stage “soon”.

The band added: “Nesmith has been dismissed from the hospital and is traveling back to his home in Carmel Valley. He is in good spirits and thanks all the fans for their support and understanding.

“He looks forward to getting back on the stage again soon.”

The group were set to perform at the Keswick Theater in Philadelphia, and then head to New York City for a show on Friday (22.06.18), followed by performances on Saturday (23.06.18) in Huntington, New York, and Monday (24.06.18) in Red Bank, New Jersey.

The group’s tour manager Andrew Sandoval revealed Michael was “not feeling well”, and said the tour dates would be rescheduled in January.

He wrote on Facebook: “I am sorry to report that the final 4 dates of The Monkees Tour will be postponed till January. Michael Nesmith has not been feeling well and will be recuperating in the meantime. We will return to the good clean fun as soon as possible.”
