London police charge 18-year-old man over Parsons Green bomb attack

British police said on Friday they had charged an 18-year-old man with attempted murder in connection with last week’s bomb attack at Parsons Green station in London.

The Metropolitan police also charged Ahmed Hassan, 18, of Sunbury, Surrey, southern England, with explosive offences in relation to the attack on a District Line train.

He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court. Hassan was arrested in Dover, south east England, on Saturday.

Last Friday a home-made bomb on a packed rush-hour commuter train engulfed a carriage in flames, but apparently failed to fully explode, in Britain’s fifth major terrorism incident this year.

The police said three other males, aged 25, 30 and 17 remain in custody in connection with the investigation.

Two other males were released on Thursday.
