Nail salon charges overweight customers 50 percent more for pedicures

Sign at nail salon

A nail salon in Tennessee, sparked outrage after putting up a sign, notifying customers that there will be a large surcharge for those who are overweight.

A woman who recently went to the Rose Salon in Memphis, noticed a sign that notified overweight customers about a 50% surcharge for pedicures.

Regular pedicures is $30. However, those customers who are deemed to be overweight, will have to pay $45 for the same procedure.

“Sorry. But if you are overweight, pedicures will be $45 due to service fees for pedicurists. Thank you!” The owner wrote on the sign.

Rose Salon owner Son Nguyen, denied that he ever charged overweight customers more. He also denied that a sign was ever placed on the window of his business.

Nguyen did admit that overweight customers frequently break his chairs, which cost about $2,500 each.

Deshania Ferguson took a photo of the sign and posted it to Facebook, where she wrote: “Went to get my nails done on Overton Crossing and Frayser Blvd, and this is what they have up. So rude.”
