A mother is devastated after her teenage son killed himself after she asked him to contribute to rent each month, according to police in the United Kingdom.

18-year-old Elliot Stapleton-Giddins of Milton Keynes, was found dead in his bedroom.

His mother Tracy, told police that she could believe her eyes when she saw her son hanging in his room.

Several hours before the gruesome discovery, Tracy sent her son a text message, asking him to start contributing $250 per month for rent.

She added that since other room cost about $750 per month in rent, the sum of $250 is very reasonable. Detectives believe that the text message contributed to the teen’s decision to end his life.

However, the coroner told a judge that there was not enough convincing evidence to rule that the teen intended to kill himself.

Tracy told the court that she regrets sending her son the text message, saying that she should have discussed the rent issue with Elliot face to face.

Elliot’s girlfriend Lily Avirl, told the court that he had been upset about his mother’s text message, but she managed to cheer him up.

However, around 2:00 a.m., Elliot was found hanging in his bedroom.
