Priest gets stabbed in the neck live on TV while leading prayer services

 A priest was rushed to a hospital after being stabbed in the neck while leading prayer services, according to police in Brazil.

Sao Paulo police said that 53-year-old Vlademiro Santiago, was stabbed while broadcasting prayer services live on television on Sunday morning.

According to the police investigation, as Santiago leaned over to embrace a young man in the crowd, he pulled out a knife and stabbed the priest several times.

Santiago suffered stab wounds in the throat. Santiago was rushed to hospital, where he was treated. His cuts were sewn together with 25 stitches.

Santiago forgave the 20-year-old man who was identified as Jonathan Gomes Higino, but police arrested him anyway.

Witnesses at the scene said that the suspect was upset with Santiago over what he said during a previous service.
