A serial thief was caught red handed trying to steal a wallet from an undercover police officer who was investigating thefts at an Internet cafe, according to police in Japan.

Hokkaido police said that they have arrested 33-year-old Shuichi Nose, after being accused of stealing the police officer’s wallet, which contained 13,000 yen ($114).

Nose has been charged with one count of theft.

According to the criminal complaint, the 28-year-old police officer and three of her colleagues were in a covert operation at around 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, after an Internet cafe complained of multiple thefts.

The police officers were posing as customers, and when the 28-year-old deputy left her wallet on a desk near a computer, Nose took it and tried to leave the Internet cafe.
