A pet sitter who was supposed to take care of two dogs, sold them to an unsuspecting family, according to police in North Carolina.

Charlotte police said that they have arrested 22-year-old Barry Sharpe of Rock Hill, South Carolina, after being accused of selling the two dogs belonging to Ekemini Udoh.

Sharpe has been charged with one count of larceny of a dog. He was booked into jail, and his bail has been set at $2,500.

According to the criminal complaint, Udoh hired Sharpe to care for her two dogs after she was hospitalized. Sharpe advertised his services on Craigslist, and Udoh hired him for $200.

After she got out of the hospital, Udoh asked for her dogs Bella and Rosie. Sharpe never responded and canceled his phone number.

She called the police who arrested Sharpe. Udoh is still looking for the whereabouts of Bella and Rosie. A man who claimed to have bought both puppies contacted Udoh and offered to work something out with her.

The man stopped communicating with Udoh after she insisted to get the dogs back.
