A man was arrested after calling police to say that he received French fries that were cold. Officers responded to the scene at a Steak ‘n Shake location on U.S. 1 and State Road 312.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Tavares Jones of St. Augustine, Florida, told officers that the female employee gave him cold French fries.

When he asked for fresh and warm fries, Jones said that the woman called him a n****r and threw food at him. She then slammed the sliding window in his face.

Jones said that he then got out of his car and threw that food back at the employee.

The female employee said that the customer became outraged over the cold fries, and he reached through the drive-thru window and pulled her before punching her in the left arm.

Officers said that they observed a bruise on the employee’s arm.

Jones was booked into the St. Johns County Jail, where he is being held for a misdemeanor battery charge. His bail was set at $1,500.
