Groom beats new wife for becoming angry when he threw up on floor of the bridal suite

A groom was arrested hours after exchanging vows with his bride for beating her.

Police were called to the White River House Hotel in Antrim, Ireland, by the bride, who said that she is very scared from her new husband.

Police said that the groom beat his new wife after she became angry that he threw up on the floor of their bridal suite in the hotel.

The bride said that after “scolding” her new husband over his behavior, he became violent. He kicked, punched and choked her.

The groom, Kevin Joseph McGrath, 28, was found passed out and drunk in the hotel room bed.

McGrath later told police that he had started drinking on his wedding day at 10:00 a.m.

He became so drunk that he did not remember anything that occurred after the evening meal, including the assault on his wife Melissa.

Defense attorney Michael Ward told the court that McGrath “has lost everything as a result of what happened.”

McGrath pleaded guilty to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Judge Alan White sentenced him to probation and ordered him to do 100 hours of community service.

He also ordered to pay £300 ($385) to his estranged wife for the assault.

McGrath revealed that he hasn’t seen his wife or the child they share since they got married two months ago.
