New chocolate helps relieve women’s period pains during menstruation

A company based in Lucerne, Switzerland, has announced that they created a chocolate that helps women during their period.

Marc Widmer, who runs Chocolate with Love, introduced “Frauenmond,” which contains certain herbs that help relieve period pains during menstruation.

Each chocolate bar, which contains 100 grams of chocolate, sells for $13. The chocolate contains 60 percent cocoa solids and 17 herbs.

Widmer said that he got the idea for the chocolate three years ago, after meeting a family member who produced a herbal tea to relieve menstrual pains.

Working with a herbalist, Widmer spent several months developing chocolate with the herbs. Widmer calls Frauenmond the first healthy chocolate for women.

The chocolate relieves pain as the herbs and cocoa solids interact while being digested, producing a calming effect on the body.

Widmer emphasized that the chocolate is not a medication, and therefore, men can also indulge in the treat.
