Kim Kardashian is moving on from her longtime bodyguard in the aftermath of her horrific robbery in Paris.
The reality star and husband Kanye West let go of Pascal Duvier, their primary protector the past few years, in an effort to reshape their security team following last month’s harrowing ordeal, Entertainment Tonight reports.
“Pascal, along with a couple other security members of their team, were recently let go by Kim and Kanye,” a source told the entertainment outlet. “It’s a pretty tough situation overall and they love Pascal, but they couldn’t take any more chances.”
The hulking, 43-year-old bodyguard had worked for West since 2012 and Kardashian since 2013.
Duvier was not in Kardashian’s room at the No Address Hotel in Paris last month when five thieves allegedly broke into her room, tied her up in the bathroom and made off with millions of dollars worth of jewelry.
Instead, Duvier who traveled to Paris with Kardashian for Fashion Week was at a nearby club providing protection for Kim’s sisters, Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner.
Kardashian, 35, didn’t blame Duvier for the robbery and felt secure being alone in the hotel room before the thieves showed up, a source told Us Weekly last month.
But the frightening incident inspired Kardashian and West to rethink their entire security detail, with the star-powered couple adding at least two armed former Secret Service members to their personal team of defense, TMZ reports.
The alleged ousting of Duvier, which took place in recent weeks, comes shortly after a report by the Daily Mail claimed the guard’s ex-wife had filed a restraining order against him and accused him of assaulting her to the point that she passed out three years ago, around the time Kardashian hired him.
Duvier also reportedly filed for bankruptcy for his high-profile security company less than three months before Kardashian’s robbery, according to DailyMail.com. His company had reportedly dipped more than $1.2 million in debt.
Reps for Kardashian and West did immediately respond to a request for comment regarding Duvier.
