A young boy died in a tragic accident after being run over by a car that was driven by another boy.
Police in California, were called to the Benicia senior center at 187 East L St. around 4:45 p.m., on a report that two children were hit by a car.
Officer found a 13-year-old boy and a 4-year-old child injured. The driver of the car, who was identified as a 12-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries.
Police learned that the children were attending a birthday party at the senior center when the 12-year-old boy got into a car to charge his phone.
At some point, he reversed the car and hit the children. All three children were rushed to a hospital. Sadly, the youngest victim succumbed to his injuries and died.
The Solano County Coroner’s Office identified the 4-year-old boy as Mahady Qadir, who is an El Sobrante resident.
Benicia police are investigating the incident. Detectives said that the incident seemed to be a tragic accident, and so far, no charges have been filed against the 12-year-old boy.
However, they are urging parents to think twice before handing car keys to children for any reason.
