Woman who tried teaching her husband a lesson about not wasting money on lottery wins $1 million jackpot

A woman was left to “eat her words” after nagging her husband to stop buying lottery tickets because “it’s a waste of money.”

The woman of North Carolina, said that she bought a scratch off lottery ticket to teach her husband a lesson about wasteful spending.

However, the plan backfired as she won $1 million.

Glenda Blackwell of Leicester, said that she gets annoyed when her husband Buddy, spends his money on scratch off lottery tickets.

On Saturday, when he asked her to pick up some Powerball tickets from the Suttles Quick Mart in Asheville, she decided to buy a $10 Carolina Millions scratch-off ticket.

“I wanted to show him that luck doesn’t always hit,” Blackwell said.

Blackwell said that after scratching the ticket, she immediately realized that the plan was not going to work in her favor.

“I had to eat my words, but those are good words to eat,” she said.

Blackwell chose the lump sum of $600,000 which came to $415,503 after taxes.

She now wants to buy a house, help her daughter and put away some money for her two granddaughters for college.
