A teacher was arrested on a charge of sexual assault after being accused of sexually assaulting a girl over a period of more than a year, according to police in California.
Now, 56-year-old Jeffrey Scott Jones of Huntington Beach, is facing up to life in prison after being found guilty of sexual assault.
According to the police investigation, Jones, who was a teacher at the Libra Academy, sexually assaulted the girl, who was not identified, for more than a year.
Police found Jones’ DNA on the girl. Moments after the jury found him guilty, Jones pulled out a razor from his pocket and slashed his throat.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
