A lawyer filed a lawsuit against Emirates airline after being seated next to an obese man during a long flight from South Africa to the United Arab Emirates.
Giorgio Destro of Padua, Italy, flew on Emirates airline from Cape Cod to Dubai, when he was seated next to the obese man whose fat spilled over into his seat.
Destro was seated in 29K, which is a window seat.
He asked flight attendants to switch his seat, but he was told that the flight was fully booked and there was no extra seats available.
For nine hours, the lawyer stood in the aisle and occasionally sat in the flight attendants’ seats. Destro wants 2,760 euros ($3,103) 760 euros ($854) as a refund for the ticket and a further 2,000 euros ($2,248) in damages.
Destro admitted that the flight the attendants were very friendly, but they couldn’t help him despite being a gold member.
