Grandmother who was trying to shoot granddaughter’s father during custody exchange accidentally shoots herself

An angry grandmother who wanted custody of her granddaughter, decided to kill the child’s father.

However, her plan backfired when she shot herself instead.

42-year-old Sheila Marie Nougier of North Carolina, wanted to get custody of her 2-year-old granddaughter.

However, the child’s father also wanted custody of his daughter and they were embroiled in a bitter battle.

Nougier hatched a plan to get rid of the man, who was not identified. The grandmother lured the child’s father to a Walmart in Randleman, with the promise of handing him her granddaughter for visitation.

The grandmother arrived to Walmart at 3:00 p.m., but she did not have the child with her. Instead, she brought a gun. She opened her car door, got out and fired a few shots.

She managed to shoot out a window of one car and a tire of another. She then accidentally hit herself in the leg.

Nougier was charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault by pointing a gun, discharging a firearm in city limits and injury to personal property.

After the shooting incident, the court awarded the father custody of his child.
