A father died while trying to kill his two children after getting into a fight with his wife.

Police in New Jersey, were called after the man threatened to harm his children.

Officers searched for the father and used a GPS signal from his cellphone to track his location.

Police found his car near the Wanaque River, but he and the children were not there. Firefighters and rescue workers found the body of the father in the water.

They also found the children, who were alive and conscious. They miraculously suffered only non-life threatening injuries.

The mother of the two boys, who are 2 and 4 years old, told police that after she and her husband got into an argument, he told her that he was going to hurt the children.

He then took the children from the home and drove to a neighboring town.

When he reached the river at about 8:00 p.m., the father took his young children in his arms and jumped over the tall fence. They fell 100 feet.

The children were taken to the St. Joseph’s Hospital, where they are in serious condition, but are expected to make a full recovery.
