Two 12-year-old boys were arrested on a charge of sexual assault after allegedly raping a 6-year-old girl at school, according to police in Australia.
Sydney police said that the incident unfolded on several occasions at school, and the boys were arrested on Tuesday.
One suspect was charged with four counts of aggravated sexual assault and two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10.
The second boy was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault and sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10.
Both boys were released to the custody of their parents. Their cases will be heard in youth court.
The Department of Education and the Family and Community Services announced that counselors will be available at school to speak with the children.
