A store employee at a convenience in Florida, was arrested for scamming a person out of his lottery winnings.
The store clerk was arrested after giving an undercover Florida Lottery agent less money than his ticket was worth.
According to an arrest affidavit, an agent went to the Mobil Mart at 4601 County Road 48 in Okahumpka after 12:00 p.m., with a ticket that he knew was worth $1,000.
He handed the ticket to the store clerk, 49-year-old Azhar Iqbal of Leesburg.
Iqbal scanned the ticket and told the agent that it won a prize of $100. He gave the money to the agent, who then left the store.
The undercover agent returned with police and Iqbal was arrested. Officers found the ticket in his pocket.
Iqbal told officers that he did not realize that the ticket was worth $1,000 until later in the day. He said that he kept the ticket in his wallet to return it to the undercover agent if he ever returned.
However, police did not believe him and Iqbal was charged with grand larceny. He was released from the Lake County Jail after posting $2,000 bail.
