Southsouth elders to militants: emulate Avengers

The militant groups still bombing pipelines and other facilities/installations of oil companies have been urged to emulate the members of Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) on cessation of hostilities in the crude oil and gas-rich region.

Southsouth leaders, under the aegis of the South-South Peoples Conference (SSOPEC), at a news conference yesterday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, through their Chairman, Prof. Sotonye Amakiri, lauded the NDA for embracing dialogue with the Federal Government.

SSOPEC stated that the latest move by the NDA would bring about peace and revive the economic activities in the Niger Delta.

The leaders noted that NDA’s cessation of hostilities would also enable the Federal Government, armed youths and the aggrieved groups to seek lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the Niger Delta.
