Simon Cowell is wishing he had more input in One Direction’s path.
The “X Factor” judge, who put the successful boy band together, told reporters that he gets the hint that some of the guys don’t want him involved in their new journeys.
“I hear so many things now, which they’re doing, which I’m not involved with. It’s a bit like I’m getting the hint you don’t want me to come to the party,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
Cowell was questioned at the “America’s Got Talent” season 11 finale about why he wasn’t involved in Zayn Malik’s new show titled “Boys,” based on the band.
“Sorry for making you famous,” Cowell, 56, replied.
As for what Malik will be revealing about the group in his upcoming memoir: “Zayn,” well, Cowell could not care less.
“You know what? I genuinely don’t care,” the TV personality said.
Cowell did reveal he’s pretty close with Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson but the others, not so much.
One Direction announced they were going on a hiatus last August.
Malik released his first solo album in February, titled “Mind of Mine.”
Styles, on the other hand, has decided to give acting a shot with a role in the 2017 film “Dunkirk.”
Cowell admitted he would have liked to be contacted about some of their new options.
“Look, I’m not going to lie when I hear they’re doing something, and they haven’t approached me. You think, ‘Well I would have liked you to,’ but it’s their choice,” says Cowell.
He added, “I’m not bitter — much.”
While the group has been on an indefinite hiatus, Cowell is hopeful for a reunion.
“You never know,” he said.
