Man goes on shooting spree and kills six cats after distributing letters warning homeowners that their pets will die

Police are looking to arrest a man on a charge of animal cruelty after allegedly killing numerous cats after threatening homeowners, according to police in Australia.

Melbourne police said that at least six cats were shot and killed while other pets were injured.

Police have urged the public to come forward with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect. If convicted, the suspect could face up to 2 years in prison and a $75,000 fine.

According to the police investigation, the suspect distributed threatening letters before the shooting, warning residents that their pets will die.

Shortly after the letters were distributed, a three-year-old white cat was shot in the hip. Fortunately, it survived, but the cat will have to learn how to walk again.

Over the following several days, three cats have been shot and killed. In another part of town, veterinarians reported that three cats were shot and killed.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said that the shootings were extremely cruel. The police warned pet owners to keep their cats locked inside until the shooter is caught.
