Finance Minister disowns Twitter account

Finance minister, Mrs Kemi Adeosun has denied owning a Twitter account.

Reacting to a statement trending on social media that she twitted that ‘recession is just a word’ a statement from her spokesman Festus Akanbi last night said Mrs Adeosun “does not own a Twitter account.”

According to Festus Akanbi, “the Twitter handle currently trending and any other Twitter handle presently in existence is not, and cannot be that of the Honourable minister, as a Twitter account has not yet been set up for her.”

The said Twitter handle Akanbi noted “is obviously fake and does not represent the views and opinion of the minister.”

Akanbi noted that “at no time did the minister make such a statement not even when she addressed the media immediately after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

The finance minister, he said has “consistently demonstrated empathy for the plight of Nigerians hard hit by dwindling oil prices and the impact on the economy.”

The Buhari administration she said has never hidden the true situation of things from Nigerians and is always looking for ways to alleviate the hardship through social intervention programmes.
