Some couple’s don’t need a $25 million dream home to be happy. A cave will do just fine.
77-year-old Li Suying and her 81-year-old husband Liang Zifu have spent the past 54 years living inside of a cave outside of Sichuan’s Nanchong city. There, they raised up four children.
As you would expect, a cave wasn’t the couple’s first choice for habitation after they got married; however, they were too poor to afford a house in the village, so they settled, NetEase reports. In the next 54 years, Li and Liang tidied the place up a bit. There is now three bedrooms, one kitchen and one living room inside the cave. Not to mention a spacious pigsty.
For some time, local officials have been trying to persuade the elderly couple to move out from their cave and into someplace more comfortable. But, they say that they have grown accustomed to their cave and think that it has many advantages: it’s cool in the summer and warm in the winter, there’s a spring for fresh water right near by. Plus, they have each other, what else do they need?
