Hip-hop star DJ Khaled nearly sent fans into overdrive when they realized he was chauffeuring them around town as an undercover Lyft driver.
The famed record producer disguised himself with massive sunglasses, a hat and a locksmith’s uniform as he introduced himself to customers as Billy and drove them to their destinations in New York City.
Along the way, he repeatedly dropped hints about his true identity by casually referencing his album “Major Key” and opening up about his well-chronicled affinity for jet skiing.
“I’m a locksmith. I got all the keys,” he says in the video. “Keys to everything … The key is to look out for everybody’s safety. That’s a major key.”
The “All I Do Is Win” creator even asked a few passengers if they were fans of DJ Khaled and one woman gave him a less-than-stellar review.
“He’s a bit much for me,” she admitted. “He’s real dramatic.”
Most fans didn’t recognize the rap mogul who has collaborated with the likes of Jay Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne until he shed his disguise, though several knew it was him right away.
“This is what happens when you’re too iconic,” the hit-maker said after a montage of people recognizing him right away played. “Icon alert.”
Every time he unveiled himself to an unsuspecting passenger, meanwhile, they predictably flipped out.
Khaled, 40, isn’t the first household name to go incognito for Lyft, as fellow stars Shaquille O’Neal and Demi Lovato have also taken part in the high-octane promotion.
