An assistant principal was arrested on a charge of rape after being accused of forcing an illegal immigrant student to have sex with him by threatening to have her departed, according to police in New York.
Now, 47-year-old William Abreu of Queens, is facing up to four years in prison after being convicted of third-degree rape in connection with the raping his 17-year-old student.
According to the criminal complaint, the 17-year-old student, who recently graduated from the Progress High School, worked in Abreu’s school office during the summer school session.
Abreu first made inappropriate sexual advances towards the teenager.
Aware of the victim’s status as an undocumented immigrant, Abreu threatened to contact immigration authorities if she did not comply, and then proceeded to grope and rape her.
Abreu further threatened immigration action if the victim did not continue to work for him. Abreu was fired by the New York City Department of Education.
