A home intruder was taken to a hospital after he was cut with a power tool and hit in the head with beer bottles.
Police were called to a home in Salem, Oregon, after the intruder, who was high on bath salts, threatened to kill the family.
14-year-old Jesus Ceja, 14, said that 25-year-old Mario Vega-Navarro, came into their home on 3700 block of State Street SE around 5:00 p.m., and was looking for his aunt and uncle.
Ceja’s father told him that the couple does not live at that address and he ordered the suspect to leave.
However, Navarro returned at 6:00 p.m., and broke into their home, where he threatened to kill the family.
Ceja’s father gave Navarro several warnings and ordered him to leave. Navarro grabbed the father and held on tightly. He scratched the man’s eyes and bit him.
That is when the 14-year-old boy decided to take action. He used a grinder to cut the intruder and beer bottles to hit him over the head.
Ceja was also attacked by Navarro. He bit the boy two times on the fingers before he was arrested.
Paramedics had to sedate Navarro several times before he was taken to the Salem Hospital.
Navarro is being treated under police watch. He faces charges of burglary, assault and resisting arrest.
Police said that the Ceja family will not face criminal charges because they acted in self-defense.
