People are outraged after seeing video of a police officer pepper spraying an elderly woman.
The shocking video shows the elderly woman falling to the ground in her own home after police broke down her door and entered.
The incident, which occurred at 2:45 a.m., was recorded on the police body cam in Oklahoma, has prompted an internal investigation.
The incident began when police officers spotted the woman’s son, 56-year-old Arthur Paul Blackmon, going through a stop sign.
Officer tried to pull him over, but he refused to stop. Blackmon fled the scene and was then seen running into his mother’s house.
Police officers busted the door and ordered Blackmon to get out. When he did not comply, they entered the home.
When 84-year-old Geneva Smith heard a commotion in her home, she came to see what was going on.
One officer ordered her to turn around, but when she refused, a female officer sprayed her in they eyes. The confused woman fell to the ground.
Smith was hospitalized after suffering a panic attack. She has accused the officers of using excessive force and laughing at her.
Her son was Tasered and he was taken into police custody.
He was charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, obstructing an officer, driving with a suspended license and carrying a weapon, according to court documents.
