A man is mutilating himself everyday as a protest against a police department, according to police in Russia.
40-year-old Igor Gubanov claims that his wife was beaten and raped by police officers while the couple was locked up in a holding cell.
Gubanov of Magnitogorsk, has already cut off the tip of two of his fingers with a saw in protest.
He said that he will continue cutting off his fingers until officials release video surveillance of the cell of the night they were locked up.
However, police are not cooperating with him.
Police released a statement, saying that they have reviewed the surveillance videos of the day in question and that there was no evidence of any wrongdoing.
Alexandr Dudik, a spokesperson for police in Magnitogorsk, said that there is no evidence that the woman was raped.
Gubanov argued that if there is nothing on the videos to show that wife was violated then they should have no problem releasing the videos and “all the problems will be solved,” he said.
Gubanov said that he decided to take extreme measures because he has been fighting for the truth for six months.
On the night of the alleged crime, Gubanov and his wife were arrested for being drunk and disorderly. They were placed in separate holding cells.
That is when he said the two officers entered his wife’s cell, where they beat and raped her.
