Team GB swimmer Adam Peaty broke his own 100m world record in heats today to send out a warning to his Olympic rivals.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise to stardom and many are tipping the Staffordshire-born to become Britain’s first male Olympic champion since 1988.
Peaty had set a new world record last year when he swam 100m in 57.92 seconds but he smashed that effort today by 0.37 seconds.
The time meant Peaty safely progresses to the semi-finals as he aims for Gold in his first Olympic games.
