Police recue two from kidnappers in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command said on Thursday it has rescued two abducted people – Mrs. Kudirat Balogun and an hotelier, Otunba Gbenga Taiwo, who were abducted separately in the state by different suspects.

Balogun, who is the wife of a chairmanship aspirant in the planned October 8 local government election in the state, was rescued on Wednesday at Mile 2 area of Abeokuta following pressure mounted on the suspects by the police.

Taiwo, who was kidnapped at Isanyin in Ogun Waterside last Monday, was rescued at Iperu-Remo area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu, disclosed these to journalists at the Police Officers’ Mess in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Iliyasu said shortly after Balogun was kidnapped, operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) Magbon, Abeokuta, were deployed to comb the state and rescue the victim unhurt.

The commissioner added that no ransom was paid to effect the victims’ release, assuring that the suspects in both kidnap cases would be arrested.

“We are still on the trail of the suspects and the long arm of the law will soon catch up with them,” he said.
