Police arraign job racketeer in Edo

A 40-year old man identified as Gideon Arinze, has been arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate Court for allegedly obtaining N120,000 from one Tony Iwamal on the pretense of giving him a job.

The suspect was alleged to have promised to secure a job with a shipping firm for his victim but failed to do so.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Thomas Ojo said the offence was committed on November along Mission Road in Benin City.

Ojo said that the offence contravened sections 419, and 390(9) of the Criminal Code

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the two count charges filed against him.

Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Joyce Ejale granted the accused person to bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum who must be gainfully employed and resident in Benin with N100, 000 in like sum.

The case was adjourned to September 2 for hearing.
