Pop icon Mariah Carey’s older sister was arrested on a prostitution charge in a small town in New York state, police say.
Alison A. Carey, 55, was taken into custody Friday by Saugerties police after an undercover investigation inside a local hotel, authorities told the Daily Freeman newspaper.
She was reportedly booked after she attempted to solicit money in return for sexual favors from a clandestine cop, who was pretending to be a customer, police said.
Carey told police she was related to the “Heartbreaker” singer after being arrested, and Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said an internet search seemed to confirm their relationship, according to the report.
Jail records show that Carey was booked in Ulster County Jail before being released on Saturday.
Police urge anyone who had a sexual interaction with Carey to visit their doctor. Multiple reports earlier this year, have claimed Alison is HIV-positive.
