A man needed surgery to remove a sharp dental tool from his stomach after his dentist dropped it into his throat during a dental procedure, according to court documents in Illinois.

Janus Pawlowicz of Chicago, won $675,000 from his dentist, Dr. Beata Kozar-Warchalowska, and the dental clinic Gentle Dental, after Kozar-Warchalowska dropped the sharp tool during a root canal into Pawlowicz’s stomach.

The health department did not take any action against the dentist to the dental clinic. According to Pawlowicz, he went to his dentist for a routine dental surgery.

During surgery, Kozar-Warchalowska, realized that she needed a special tool for the procedure, but she couldn’t find it.

Pawlowicz was then sent home, and was told that he will receive a call when the dentist finds her tool. Four days later, Pawlowicz began suffering severe stomach pains, and he went to the hospital.

An X-ray showed that he had swallowed a dental tool, and it was lodged in his stomach. Surgeons removed the tool, but Pawlowicz said that he still has persistent problems because of the incident.
