Man arrested for stealing refrigerator, other items from hotel room

A hotel guest was arrested on a charge of theft after allegedly stealing kitchen appliances from a hotel, according to police in Japan.

Gunma police said that they have arrested 48-year-old Isao Takahashi, after being accused of stealing a refrigerator from his hotel room because the one he had at home was broken.

According to the police investigation, Takahashi was staying at the hotel on Tuesday, when he stole a refrigerator, microwave oven and a table clock.

A hotel employee who went to clean the room after Takahashi checked out, realized that the refrigerator and other appliances were missing.

He immediately called the police. Police went to Takahashi’s home, where he was arrested.

During questioning, Takahashi told police that he could not make ends meet and his fridge at home was broken so he decided to take the hotel’s kitchen appliances.
