Drake and Rihanna share awkward kiss after rapper gives touching tribute to rumored girlfriend at VMAs

Hip hop’s rumored couple has been tight-lipped about their love life but finally shared an awkward kiss on the small screen.

The Video Music Awards was sealed with a highly anticipated smooch after Drake melted everyone’s hearts as he delivered a moving tribute to rumored girlfriend, Rihanna, on Sunday night.

The Canadian rapper presented RiRi with the Video Vanguard Award the highest MTV honor and praised the singer he has loved “since I was 22 years old.”

“All of my adult life I’ve looked up to her even though she’s younger than me,” he explained.

The “Hotline Bling” rapper credited the songstress for making her success seem “effortless” but noted what’s “most impressive is the person.”

“She succeeds by doing something no else in this industry does being herself,” he said.

The heartwarming statement clearly moved Rihanna, who placed her hand above her heart.

The night’s big kiss almost seemed like it wouldn’t happen when the “Kiss It Better” singer planted a peck on Drake’s cheek, appearing to dodge the rapper’s lips.

She was then welcomed by a roaring crowd, who shouted out even more praises as she admitted she couldn’t believe “I’m receiving a Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at 28 years old.”

“This is such an amazing moment in my career. When I think of tonight.. all I can think of is my country ,” the Barbados native began.

“My success is not my own. It is my family’s. It is my fans. It is the Caribbean as a whole. It’s women. It’s black women,” she continued.

The 28-year-old concluded her speech by walking arm-in-arm with her rumored beau and finally giving him a quick, blink-if-you-miss it smooch.

The peck sent the internet into frenzy, quickly making Drake a trending topic.

“Drake should just pop the question & get it over with,” one fan tweeted.

“If bae looks at you like Rihanna looks at Drake then its love,” another wrote.

Thankfully for social media, the rapper made it to show. He missed most of the ceremony as he was apparently “stuck in traffic.”
