Dismissed ‘Criminal Minds’ star Thomas Gibson secretly filed for divorce two years ago

Thomas Gibson, the maligned actor formally of “Criminal Minds,” secretly filed for divorce from his wife two years ago, according to a report.

The actor had been married to Christine Gibson for 21 years before filing in 2014. Technically, they remain married, but estranged.

Extra obtained the court documents in which Thomas said, “The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities … that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”

Christine responded by filing a “general denial,” the news outlet said.

Last December, Thomas filed a counter petition to reaffirm his decision to divorce. Extra claims that if no movement is made on the case by October 25, it will be dismissed.

The somewhat obscure actor’s life has been thrust into the limelight after he was let go from the CBS hit show following an alleged physical altercation with a writer on set.

“Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds,” a statement from the show read. “Creative details for how the character’s exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date.”

As new of the altercation and his firing began to make the rounds, Thomas joined Twitter to defend himself.

“I wish I could thank each of you for your friendship & support. I love “Criminal Minds,” & I’m disappointed by what’s happened #ThomasGibson,” he wrote on Aug. 16.
He has reportedly hired a lawyer to purse a possible lawsuit pertaining to his dismissal from the show.

The controversy began on Aug. 11 when a writer claimed that Thomas kicked him in the leg, because Thomas was angry over a creative dispute.

At the time, Thomas told TMZ, “There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement. I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and always will.”
