Discharged patient steals ambulance from hospital to drive herself home after missing last bus

A woman who stole an ambulance to drive herself home from a hospital, was caught following a police chase, according to police Ohio.

Cincinnati police said that they have arrested 43-year-old Lisa Carr, after being accused of stealing the ambulance following her release of the hospital because she missed the last bus.

Carr has been charged with theft, failure to comply with police and driving under suspension. She was booked into the Hamilton County jail, pending a bail hearing.

According to the criminal complaint, an ambulance driver called police to report that his vehicle was stolen at the Deaconess Hospital located on Straight Street.

The incident unfolded shortly after taking a patient inside the hospital around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carr, who had just been discharged from the hospital, saw the Ford E-450 ambulance and jumped right in.

She drove 20 minutes to her home on Meredith Drive, which is about 10 miles from the hospital. Police were able to track down the ambulance via GPS.

Carr was arrested outside her residence near the ambulance.

She told police that she took the ambulance because she missed the last bus home from the hospital.
