15 inmates escape from Enugu prison

At least 15 inmates have escaped from the Nsukka Prison, Enugu.

Although prison officials have not confirmed the exact number of inmates that escaped, sources said the inmates scaled the perimeter fence and escaped on Tuesday night.

The Comptroller of Prisons in Nsukka, Lawrence Okonkwo, confirmed the jail break.

“Yes there was a jailbreak last night in Nsukka prison but I am not in a position to say how many prisoners escaped,” he said.
