A woman was arrested on a charge of manslaughter after killing her
husband and burying him under a pile feces in a farm because he wanted
to divorce her, according to police in New York.
Now, 49-year-old Charlene Mess of Attica, has been sentenced to serve 25
years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in connection
with the death of her husband, 52-year-old Doug Mess.
According to the police investigation, Charlene stabbed her husband with
a pitchfork and then shot him in the back of the head as he lay
unconscious and helpless on the ground because he told her that he
wanted to divorce her due to her alcoholism.
Charlene then dragged husband’s body with a tractor on the family farm,
where she buried under a giant pile of feces. The court was told that
Charlene hit Doug three times in the chest with the pitchfork.
All wounds were incurred while he was alive.
After he was knocked unconscious, she went to the house, got her gun,
put bullets in it, went back the farm, placed the gun on the back of
Doug’s head and shot him.
She then tied his hands and feet together, dragged him around the farm
and buried him under a pile of feces that was set to be used as
fertilizer.
Charlene and Doug had been married for 30 years. They had three children together.
