WATCH: Chinese patriot attacks man for wearing Nike shoes after South China Sea ruling

After the Hague Tribunal ruling, Chinese nationals have been expressing their outrage in odd ways, like smashing their iPhones in protest. The newest trend: beating up people wearing American brands.

A man wearing Nike shoes on a subway in Dalian was attacked by one
Chinese patriot because apparently his shoes symbolized “support” for
America, which the Chinese media has claimed was the one really behind this whole “farce” of an arbitration.

During the altercation, the attacker also accused the Nike-shoed man
of being a spy and selling out the Chinese people to foreign interests. A
bystander carrying a Nike bag was quick to get out of the way.

Curiously, nobody on the subway attempted to stop the fight and mediate the situation.

Netizens have overwhelmingly denounced the violence and pointed out that beating up an innocent Chinese man isn’t exactly a productive form of “patriotism.”

Plot twist: What if the guy was actually wearing fake Nikes ? #MadeinChina
