The United States is advising its citizens to “reconsider travel to
Turkey at this time” following the July 15 failed coup attempt and the
imposition of a three-month state of emergency, and it has authorized
the “voluntary departure” of family members of staff at its embassy in Ankara and consulate in Istanbul.
The
travel warning sent by the U.S. Embassy on July 26 said the State
Department is continuing to monitor the effect of the failed coup
attempt and the state of emergency on the overall security situation in
the country.
