Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno state and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen
TY Buratai on Wednesday flagged off the opening of Maiduguri to
Gamboru/Ngala Road in Borno state.
The road which was shutdown for the last 27 months is one of the most
commercially viable road in the country that links Nigeria to the
Republic of Chad, Cameroon, Sudan and Central African Republic.

The event which took place in Maiduguri was later followed by series of
events in Dikwa which includes free medical services, free feeding for
50,000 IDPs and commissioning of a solar powered borehole to improve
Army/host community relationship.

Shettima was full of praises to President Muhammadu Buhari for choosing
Lt-Gen. Buratai as Chief of Army Staff and further stated that the
Nigerian Army under Buratai is winning the war and those that are
against him are sympathisers of Boko Haram.

He also thanked Buratai for sending best hands in the Army to fight the
war in Borno and the Northeast. The visit to the ancient town of Dikwa
was rounded-up by a visit to this historic Rabi house.
