Popular radio show canceled after host beats up colleague during live broadcast

 

People in Japan, are angry after Tokai Radio Broadcasting announced the
cancellation of a popular show, following the arrest of the host.

Aichi police said that they have arrested 67-year-old Yukio Miyachi,
after being accused of using a microphone to beat his colleague,
50-year-old Mie Jinno.

Miyachi also kicked Jinno in the shins repeatedly during a live radio
broadcast. Miyachi was the host of the long-term radio program “Ask
Yukio Miyachi Anything.”

The incident unfolded on Tuesday, and on Thursday, the show was
canceled. A spokesperson for the radio station told the audience that
the show was canceled due to an illness.

Jinno told police that she was abused by her colleague numerous times, but this was the first time that he assaulted her.

However, listeners reported hearing Miyachi striking Jinno during broadcasts.
