New shampoo bottles empties itself to the last drop

People who hate leaving behind drops of shampoo in nearly empty bottles,
will soon be able to purchase plastic shampoo bottles that empty
themselves to the last drop.

Researchers at the Ohio State University, have developed a new coating
for plastic bottles to make soap products flow freely from the inside.

The new patent-pending technology restricts the soap from touching the
inside of the bottle. The researchers developed the structure using
nanoparticles, which do not stick to soap.

The development is part of a project to create a shampoo bottle that is
efficient and environmentally friendly. The researchers hope to license
the coating technique to manufacturers for other bottled plastic
products.

The method has already been applied to polycarbonate, a plastic used in
car headlights and cases of smartphones, among other applications.
